Held every 3rd Thursday each month, 10.30 – 1pm, Helping Hands Bereavement Coffee Morning Group offers a space where we can relax from some of the pressure points in life; our goal is to promote wellbeing after loss. You can enjoy a hot or cold drink and connect with others, giving you the opportunity to talk, share or just listen to others' experiences of losing a loved one. This will be a monthly event to help you on your grieving journey and the chance to meet new people.
After the loss of someone we can often feel isolated, not able to talk within friendship circles about our loss, this can have a negative impact on wellbeing, sometimes we might struggle with practical things like cooking, simple DIY or gardening, and there are others just wanting to connect with others on the grieving journey in need of sharing skill sets and stories.
If you are able to help, making drinks or washing up please contact Del on 07796 190794 or by email below. We are aware not everyone wants to share their grief but just being a part of something can help. Please pop in and ask for details.
We are not a counselling service provider; this is a volunteering group to help facilitate and support bereaved people within the community. Please respect others' privacy in the group, by keeping any conversations shared strictly confidential. We want everyone to feel safe, relaxed, and able to talk freely in this space.

We aim to deliver high quality, relevant programming to Thornbury and surrounding villages. We support development of our community through frequent on-air mentions, sponsorship and campaigns. Unlike other stations, scarcely 10 minutes will pass without you hearing the word "Thornbury" or something else that is locally relevant!
Musically we are far more diverse than other stations on the dial. In contrast to most commercial stations that playlist only 300-400 songs, our playlist has over 5000 songs, and that excludes the music we play in specialist shows!
Listen 24 hours a day on 105.1 FM and 107.5 FM, online via the link below, on mobile using the dedicated iOS and Android apps and on internet radio players.

The National Garden Scheme is proud to say that 80% of money raised through opening gardens goes to health charities.
In our area, Somerset, Bristol, South Gloucestershire and Bath there are almost 40 gardens to choose from, all described in the local 'Yellow book.' In South Gloucestershire 7 very different gardens open to visitors providing 'Great Gardens, Great Cakes!' Some will open for groups, at a time to suit you, 'By Arrangement'.
Details of all the gardens can be found on the National Garden Scheme website below, or you can download the smartphone app. On both you can search for gardens opening within the distance you are prepared to travel. So why not go ahead and plan the gardens you would like to visit?
The huge benefits of gardens and gardening to health and well being are now well recognised. You may feel you would like to become involved in this inspiring organisation. It's possible to volunteer in a small way by helping with serving teas, or you may even feel that your own garden could be enjoyed by others. Seeing the pleasure on visitors' faces and sharing your endeavours with others, whilst helping the NGS charities, has a huge 'feel good factor.'

Thornbury Arts Festival, one of the longest running multi-arts festivals in the country, is looking for volunteers to join its committee to fill both key and supporting roles.
Entirely run by volunteers, the Festival is an established part of the Thornbury calendar and the organising committee is also responsible for the annual Thornbury Eisteddfod, and the Severn Vale Art Trail, which showcases the work of local artists.
If you would like to find out more, please get in touch.
Thornbury Carnival is organised by the Thornbury Carnival Community Interest Company (C.I.C.). If you would like to join the committee in any capacity and help plan the next Thornbury Carnival, please make contact as soon as possible.
There are lots of ways to get involved, many of which do not require Committee work, and can be done in small groups and spread throughout the year.
No experience is necessary, just a friendly approach, resourcefulness and reliability.
Thornbury parkrun happens largely because of our fantastic volunteers, who help on a Saturday morning. The weekly team is led by a small group of parkrun enthusiasts who form what we call the 'core team'. They make sure the event is setup and packed away each week, the results published, the tokens resorted, event reports written and so much more.
We're very grateful to the help provided by everybody, both now and in the past, who've helped make Thornbury parkrun happen. Please click below if you'd like to join us and get involved!
Every week across the UK thousands of young people, aged between 10 and 18, get involved in Sea Cadet activities. To make this happen we need the help of volunteers. We have lots of roles to match your skills from instructional staff to unit management.
Instructional opportunities range from sailing to marine engineering, navigation to catering, first aid to adventure training. Training for would-be cadet instructors is available so anyone interested should not be put off because they don't know anything/much about a particular subject. Unit Management opportunities include marketing and PR, asset management (buildings or boats or equipment), organizing events, recruitment (adult volunteers and cadets).
