Yate’s Christmas Festive Fun day on Saturday, 23rd November will be a bonanza of dance, music and entertainment with local groups showing their talents and wooing the crowds.
There will be non-stop entertainment for all ages from 11am until 5pm when Father Christmas, helped by Elf on the Shelf, will bring a sparkle to the darkening skies by turning on the Centre’s Christmas lights from the hub of activities in Yate Shopping Centre’s Central Square.

Ho Ho Ho… Grab those Santa hats, adorn a big red suit and take part in our Santa Fun Run, all in support of South Gloucestershire Age UK. A 1.5K fun run around Old Down Country Park to spread some festive cheer and support a local Charity dedicated to delivering services and activities to older people in South Gloucestershire.
Jingle your way around our route, whether you walk, jog or run. Our Santa Fun Run will be part of our Christmas Launch Event, great for all the family, including the dog, so gather everyone together and kick off your festive celebrations with us. *Note all spectators will require Country Park entry tickets. It's the Christmas Tree Festival soon so we need help getting the Christmas stuff down from the loft and putting it up ready for the festival.
Can you help on Tuesday 26th Nov at 7 pm in St Mary's? We'll have a cup of tea and maybe some cake you never know. Last year we got it done in about 1hr.
We also need volunteers for stewarding at the festival on the 30th Nov and 7th Dec between 10:30 and 1pm, and 1pm and 3pm.

What We Need: Egg cartons
Here’s how you can get involved:
- Drop off your decorated or plain egg cartons (clean and not soiled) at the Town Hall reception before 29 November 2024 during office hours.
- Join us on Wednesday 27 November (9:30 AM - 3:00 PM) to help draw on the collected cartons and make them look festive!
Once completed, our staff will stack the cartons into a tree for display in the Town Hall. The fun doesn’t end there! Guess how many cartons we used for a chance to enter a lucky draw and win a prize! (Details to follow once the tree is finished.)

There are also activities for children as well as a Crib Cafe serving refreshments.

Bus trip from the Swan Thornbury to Worcester Christmas Market - we will meet at the Swan first for a coffee and a bacon roll, then catch the coach to Worcester Christmas Market.

Santa’s Grotto will be open from November 30th on every Saturday and Sunday from 10am-4pm, and Monday 23rd December, closing at 1pm on Tuesday 24th December.
Entry to the Grotto is free, with each child receiving a free sticker and certificate, but visitors are invited to make a £1 contribution towards the nominated charity, the local Jessie May Children’s Hospital, for each visit.

Yes, it's back! St John's is relaunching the much-loved Crib Festival, and this year's theme is "Joy to the World".
It's an annual community celebration and family event that Sodbury Vale Benefice has been putting on since 2011. It celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ through the medium of nativity crib scenes from around the world. Around 150-200 cribs are on display for viewing during the first week of Advent.

Nobody likes teacher Paul Hunham (Giamatti) - not his students, not his fellow faculty, not the headmaster, who all find his pomposity and rigidity exasperating.
With no family and nowhere to go over Christmas holiday in 1970, Paul remains at school to supervise students unable to journey home. After a few days, only one student holdover remains - a trouble-making 15-year-old named Angus, a good student whose bad behaviour always threatens to get him expelled.

Christmas Workshops at Organic Blooms

Back for our 10th year, we are pleased to offer three weekends of Christmas Workshops, including a whole day workshop on Saturday 14th where you will make a Christmas wreath and a table decoration and have a home cooked lunch. Santa’s Grotto will be open from November 30th on every Saturday and Sunday from 10am-4pm, and Monday 23rd December, closing at 1pm on Tuesday 24th December.
Entry to the Grotto is free, with each child receiving a free sticker and certificate, but visitors are invited to make a £1 contribution towards the nominated charity, the local Jessie May Children’s Hospital, for each visit.
