Our 50 members have fun and raise money for charity with four concerts each year. We enjoy singing a great variety of music from major classical works to lighter songs from musicals and folk songs.
There are no auditions, but singers who can read music are especially welcome. We meet Tuesdays at 7.30pm in Alveston Methodist Church, and welcome new members (particularly tenors and basses!).

Apollo Wind Band is an adult band of wind instrument musicians, part of the Avon Wind Band Association charity. We meet weekly on Tuesday evenings at St Paul's Primary School in Yate and are always willing to accept new players.
The Armstrong Arts Group (AAG) was created in 2019 as a result of the fund-raising effort to help redevelop the Armstrong Hall in Thornbury started in 2011 by Joan Hawkins, Daphne Ashton and Barbara Ray.
Its aims are to promote and maintain entertainment opportunities in Thornbury for all ages and interests for the benefit of Thornbury and the surrounding area in which individuals will be able to enjoy and appreciate various cultural and entertainment events.
In view of the closure of the Armstrong Hall Complex, any funds currently raised by the events organised by the group will be utilised to facilitate further cultural events and activities.
The programme organised by the AAG includes musical performances, drama productions and talks.

Did you know that Thornbury has its own Eisteddfod?
It has classes in singing, speech and drama, choirs, piano, orchestral instruments and family groups.
The Eisteddfod is a celebration of the great range of talent in the local area.
Taking part in a competitive festival can be an enjoyable and encouraging experience especially as there are professional adjudicators judging the classes.
It provides a platform for young performers so if that's you why not have a look at the syllabus and enter a class or two?
For more information click below or pick up a copy of the syllabus from The Town Hall, Thornbury.

Founded in 2002, the orchestra has grown rapidly and now performs large symphonic works. While aiming for high standards, we remain a fun, friendly and enthusiastic group. Players need to be of a good standard and wishing to improve. Recent works played by the orchestra include Elgar’s Enigma Variations, Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition and excerpts from Holst’s The Planets.
Rehearsals are at 19:45 on alternate Wednesdays at the United Reform Church, Thornbury, plus some sectional rehearsals on the other Wednesdays.
The orchestra welcomes membership and booking enquiries. Please visit our website for contact details.
The inspiration of the late saxophone player Richard Gulliver, the band is made up of musicians from Thornbury and its surrounds, who are from all walks of life, and who share a common aim of providing good quality entertainment.
The band performs throughout the year at concerts, weddings and parties, with an annual Christmas concert. We play Swing instrumental numbers from the 1930s to modern times.
Money raised is donated to our nominated charity Brain Tumour Support, and others. For more information call Chris on 01454 411761.
