The Parish Council meets on the second Wednesday of each month, except in December, in the Village Hall at 7.30pm.
Anyone is welcome to attend meetings, but may only speak when invited to do so.
Anyone can propose items for the agenda by informing the clerk of that proposal at least eight days before the meeting so that due notice can be given.

Alveston Parish Council represents approximately 3,000 residents in Alveston, Rudgeway, Earthcott Green and the surrounding countryside.
The Council has an overall responsibility for the well-being of the local community with their work falling into the three main areas of representation, delivering services and striving to improve quality of life in the parish. This work is achieved using the funds collected from all residents by the setting of a Precept which is collected through the Council Tax system.

Thornbury is lucky enough to have its own Fire Station with two engines and twenty retained firefighters.
They provide cover for the town and surrounding villages 24 hours a day, seven days a week, as part of Avon Fire and Rescue Service.
Yate Fire Station operates a four watch system with wholetime firefighters on duty at the station 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The station is also covered by firefighters on the Retained Duty System who attend emergency incidents and carry out community fire safety activities, in support of their wholetime colleagues.
